That didn't take much to get. We defined hostgroups for everything there except the diskspace.

For each hostgroup, we defined a service object that used "hostgroup_name".

So, to add a new FTP server check, we just add "dept_ftpservers" to that host object's "hostgroups" list. That's pretty efficient. Especially for slackers like me.
