Temperature Monitoring - Digitemp


Digitemp is a small program that pulls temperature readings from little sensors on a 1-Wire bus.

Our server room grew very rapidly over the course of 6 months. We needed a way to monitor the temperature in there.

Our facilities person suggested a black box thing that calls you. It was expensive, and only monitored one area. Plus, it required a land-line for notifications. It took me a while to remember what a landline was (this is post-bubble time frame after all), then just an instant to know that it wouldn't work.

Our solution was cheap (~$5 per sensor box), flexible, and yes, it ties into Nagios.
